The faces behind MBSA

Medical Biochemistry Students’ Association was founded to represent those who form a part of the Medical Biochemistry course, as well as all those who study medical research. We vow to provide services to better student life socially, culturally and academically. We will work continuously towards reaching our aim and are honoured to be part of MBSA, the medical researchers in the making.

THE TEAM

My name is Matthew Bonavia and over the past three years I have dedicated myself to the pursuit of excellence in the field of medical biochemistry. Having been a member of the MBSA during my progress in the course, I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact this association has on our academic and professional development. This experience has fueled my desire to contribute further to the growth and success of our organisation. My academic journey in medical biochemistry has equipped me with a solid foundation of knowledge making me well-prepared to address the challenges and opportunities that come with the role of Vice President. I am committed to promoting academic excellence, facilitating meaningful connections among students and ensuring that the MBSA continues to be a valuable resource for all.

Last year, I was lucky to have began my journey in the MBSA's executive team as the Secretary General and hope to continue all the great work of the previous teams as Vice President."

This year marks my second year as a part of the MBSA’s executive team. I am grateful to be a part of an amazing team and I am certain that together we can provide a great experience for all members and students through organising many leisure and educational events and more.

OMAR TRAD

Treasurer

My name is Omar Trad. The field of medical research has always fascinated me, especially research related to stem cells & immunology. So far this course has provided me with a great insight to the type of revolutionary work this field has to offer, and will lead me to pursue my goals in further developing our understanding of the human body. I was first introduced to MBSA in my first year of the course and decided to become a part of this organisation during my second year. I intend to commit myself to better this organisation and make sure it provides a great experience towards all students.

MAYA ZAMMIT

Public Relations Officer

I decided to pursue medical biochemistry because I’ve always been interested in science, particularly in the field of immunopathological research. I wanted to join MBSA because I have a lot of ideas and skills that I can bring to the team, and I believe that my work along with my colleagues will benefit current and future course students.

JULIA DEBONO

Creative Director

Research is a vital part of progress and I believe that with the knowledge acquired during this course many interesting career paths can be opened.

As a part of this board, I wish to aid my fellow first years and guide them as best I can. Creativity is an important part of everyone's life and I believe that both science and one's expression are vital. I chose to be a part of MBSA to be helpful and be part of a team that helps and inspires others.

GILLIAN ATTARD MONTALTO

My journey with the MBSA began in my first year with my appointment as secretary general. I have now been graciously voted in as president. Through this role,  I aim to build on the great work of our previous executive teams, and serve as a source of help on which other students reading for this degree may rely.
